How We Started
Inspired by real-life events and our own adventures, our journey began four years ago during a conversation about how to make hiking safer and smarter without the need for expensive new hardware or additional costs. The initial idea took shape in 2021 with the help of friends and family. We rigorously tested our prototype across Europe's iconic terrains: the Alps, Dolomites, Carpathians, and Patagonia.
We've introduced innovative features like the SOS Marmot button and hazard notifications to ensure hikers can share timely, high-quality information from the trail. Our in-app chat allows hikers to connect with one another, enhancing the sense of community. Moreover, we're proud to be pioneers in the hike-to-earn system, rewarding your passion for the outdoors like never before.
The Marmots
Our app draws inspiration from the social behaviors of marmots. Known for their communal living and pivotal role in their ecosystems, marmots are adept at signaling danger with their distinct whistles.
Mirroring this natural alert system, our app features a crowdsourced geo-localization notification system that enhances safety and interaction among hikers. Users can report hazards, request or offer assistance within a 15 km radius, and even organize or join hikes globally.

S.O.S. Marmot
If you find yourself in danger, signal distress and everyone within a 15 km radius will be alerted to assist you quickly. Someday, you may be the one offering help. Like marmots, we look out for each other in the mountains.

Report Hazard
You can alert others about any hazards you encounter on the trail (broken bridges, closed roads, wild animals, fires, shepherd dogs, avalanches, etc.) so everyone stays informed!

Join a Hike
You can organize a hike with friends, join an open hike, or download a route from our library for a solo adventure. Look for our logo flame at gathering points - you never know when a mountain cabin party might be nearby.

Hike to Earn
Earn while you explore! Welcome to the Happy Marmots community, home to the only next-generation hike-to-earn app that truly rewards your activity. You can earn points for using the app. At the end of the year the points will be transformed in financial benefit in your e-wallet, important discounts from our Outlet partners or access to supplementary services.
Example: you may earn points for adding a trail, participating to a trail, adding pictures, participate to the hazard/SOS notification system or participating in targeted actions ( e.g. gathering info on temperature changes in certain places, eco-challenges ,etc). It's a crowd-sourced app, so many opportunities to earn points for your involvement are available.
We are just at the beginning of our adventure, many features will be released on the way as soon as we reach our project milestones. Join-us! We're pioneering in the next-gen outdoor app and we're onboarding now!
